Easter!

It's Easter time again! I had big plans to spend a lot of time focusing on Easter with my kids this year, and then, all of a sudden it just snuck up on me. It is easy to let this holiday season become filled with busyness as we plan for family get togethers, trips, and church services. I want to encourage you to take some time to slow down and reflect on the Easter story. I have included two videos in this post (one is geared for primary students, and the other intermediate). Have your child watch the age appropriate video and ask them to focus on how they feel when they watch the video and listen to the music. It might be beneficial for your child to watch the video multiple times to really focus on the words of the song, as well as the images on the screen. Ask your child to begin a mind map of words that come to his/her mind as they view the video. Try to also ask them to describe their emotions as well as the facts of Easter. When your child has completed the mind map ask him or her to look at those words and write a response that discusses why Easter is so important to him/her personally. At the end of their paragraph ask them if they know someone who needs to know about God's love and why we celebrate Easter. If your child thinks of someone help them to write out a prayer for their friend or family member and discuss ways in which your family can communicate Christ's love to that person. For those of you with younger children you can have them dictate this activity to you so that you can do the writing for them, or you can ask them to draw their response. Happy Easter, and may your family enjoy celebrating the most precious gift from God!
